MISSION STATEMENT
Merrimack Valley TMA Cycling Committee

The Merrimack Valley Transportation Management Association (MVTMA) is a nonprofit, public-private partnership of local businesses, institutions, and municipalities addressing transportation issues in the upper Merrimack Valley communities of Andover, Lawrence, Methuen, and North Andover. The goal of the MVTMA is to increase the use of “non-single-occupant vehicle” (non-SOV) travel and to promote a variety of transportation options such as bus/rail commuting, car/vanpools, bicycling, walking, and telecommuting.

Recognizing that traffic is a concern not just locally but for the region, the MVTMA brings businesses, institutions, developers, and municipalities together to address shared traffic related concerns.

To further the objectives of the Merrimack Valley TMA to support alternative commute modes, it is the mission of the MVTMA Cycling Committee to promote

  • Enhanced communication to and between Merrimack Valley TMA member employees and tenants;
  • cycling for commuting and recreation through advocacy to local, state, and federal agencies for infrastructure improvements that support cycling as a viable commute option;
  • safe cycling by creating awareness of cyclists and the rules and regulations for sharing the road to both cyclist and motorist; and
  • bike commuting by generating corporate awareness and support for facilities and policies that encourage bicycle commuting by employees and tenants.
