Worksite Incentive Program

The Merrimack Valley TMA is pleased to offer a comprehensive package of transportation incentives designed to encourage commuters who currently drive alone to work to travel to work together.

Guaranteed Ride Home – Vouchers for taxi or rental car transportation to get home in the event of a personal emergency; available to employees that travel to work in any shared ride mode (including bike/walk) at least 2 days per week. Registered commuters may use the GRH up to 4 times per year.

MODE INCENTIVES:

• Transit – Employees who choose transit will receive Commuter Check vouchers to purchase a monthly pass, up to a maximum of $35/month for 3 months.

• Carpool – Newly formed carpools of 2 or more commuters or individuals joining existing carpools that travel to the worksite at least 2 days per week will receive a gasoline debit card with a monthly value of $35 for 3 months.

• Vanpool – Newly formed vanpools will receive two $35 gasoline debit cards for the first 3 months.

• Bicycling/Walking – Employees who walk or bicycle to work at least 10 days during a 6-month period will earn points that will be converted into a gift card with a maximum value of $105 for purchasing outdoor gear and equipment at the Athlete's Corner in Andover. Gift cards are awarded in $35 increments for every 10 days that a participant bicycles/walks to work within the 6-month program timeframe (10 times = $35, 20 times = $70, 30 times = $105).

• Telecommuting – Employees who telecommute at least 2 days per week for up to 3 months will earn points that will be converted into gift certificates with a maximum value of $105.

EMPLOYER SUPPORT SERVICES

Employers are encouraged to implement services that support and promote shared-ride commuting such as:

• Preferential parking – Conveniently located, reserved parking spaces for registered carpools and vanpools.

• Bicycle Racks – Secure, covered parking for bicycles.

• Lockers/Showers – Facilities for employees who bicycle or walk to work.

• Commuter Tax Benefits – Pre-tax payment of transit and vanpool transportation costs; employees and employers save on income and payroll taxes.

• Financial Incentives – beyond the six-month introductory period.
